Misunderstandings.

I’m aware this was a really heavy scene involving the only trans* person on the show. But that is not at all what I had in mind when I posted this, maybe I should have linked the QueerSecret I found that represented what I was trying to state instead of quoting The L Word. Continued…

I have a lot of questions/concerns involving Max’s character development actually.

BUT. What I was actually trying to state is that there are isn’t really that many butch women in a lot of areas. Female masculinity isn’t as celebrated anymore. Androgynous women do happen, but if you’re living in a more conservative area you’re certainly not going to find them. Women are so often forced into more feminine roles when they shouldn’t have to be. And I can certainly elaborate further if necessary.

I am not now, nor have I ever been transphobic, I may (most likely) not be as super informed enough to realize underlying phobia in things. But public apologies aside. I am always open to learn. I am currently living with a transsexual, so I’d appreciate if everyone reads this and takes into account that people make mistakes.

Okay this is the QueerSecret that prompted more questions about female masculinity. For me, even in more urban areas. I see mainly older butch women. Young women certainly feel pressure to fit into molds, and become the lipstick lesbian everyone fantasies them to be. As I’ve seen on GenderQueer blogs, and other varients, it’s hard to be anything other than the stereotypical standard people seem to expect. And yes all of you are misinterpreting my original intention. [Text: You know, it just… it just saddens me to see so many of our strong butch girls giving up their womanhood to be a man. You know, we’re losing our warriors, our greatest women. And I don’t wanna lose you.]
